Weftwell terms
Last updated 27 October 2026. These terms cover the Weftwell web app and the Weftwell app for iPhone and Android.
These are the terms for using Weftwell, in plain words. By using Weftwell, you agree to them. How your information is handled is on the privacy page.
What Weftwell is, and what it is not
Weftwell is an educational app for adults who want to practice difficult conversations: supporting someone, setting a boundary, raising a concern. You talk with a simulated person in a realistic situation, get feedback, and try a reply again.
It is rehearsal and education. It is not therapy, counseling, diagnosis or a crisis service, and nothing in it is medical, legal or financial advice.
The people you practice with are characters, not real people. When practice uses AI, the characters' replies, your feedback and Remy's answers are generated by AI, so they can be wrong, inconsistent or a poor fit for your situation. In guided practice, you choose from written replies, and the character's responses and your feedback are written in advance. Either way, Weftwell can't predict how a real person will respond, and the feedback describes how you responded in a practice. It is not an assessment of you or of anyone you describe. What you say in a real conversation is your own decision.
Who can use it
Weftwell is made for adults, 18 or older, practicing conversations with other adults. It is not directed at children, and the practice about suicide is only offered to people who say they are 18 or older.
Using it well
Use Weftwell to practice. Please don't use it to:
- harass, threaten or harm a real person, or plan to do so;
- do anything illegal;
- try to break or overload the app or its server, or get around its limits, such as the daily practice limit.
Your words
What you type, the text your phone or browser makes of what you say, your answers on the setup screen, the situation you describe and your messages to Remy are used to run your practice: to produce the replies, the feedback and Remy's answers, and to check what you write for signs that you may need support right away. They are sent to the Weftwell server. When practice uses AI, and once you have agreed, the server passes them to Anthropic, our AI provider. The Weftwell server holds a practice conversation in its memory for up to two hours, and a practice shaped around a situation you described for up to six hours; none of it is written to disk. Your practice history stays on your device. The privacy page says in full what leaves your device, where it goes and how long it is kept, including what speech recognition and voice replies send to other companies.
If you or someone else is in danger
Weftwell cannot help in an emergency. Call your local emergency number. In the US, call or text 988 for the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. The app's Help and safety section lists the lines for other regions.
The app's support check looks for signs, in the words you write, that you or someone else may need help right away. It reads only those words, so it can miss things and can be wrong. It never decides whether anyone is at risk, and no one is contacted.
Availability and changes to the app
Weftwell may change. Practices, features and the people you practice with can be added, changed or removed, and the app or its server may sometimes be unavailable. How much one device can practice in a day may be limited.
Your practice history is kept on your device, not on the Weftwell server (your phone's own backup includes it, if you use one). Deleting the app or clearing its data removes it from the device, and Weftwell can't restore it.
Disclaimers
Weftwell is provided as it is and as it is available. As far as the law allows, Weftwell makes no promise that it will always work, be free of mistakes or suit your situation, or that practicing will lead to any particular result in a real conversation.
Limitation of liability
As far as the law allows, Weftwell is not responsible for any indirect or consequential loss from using the app, or for what you decide to say or do in a real conversation. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the law that can't be limited.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change, the date at the top changes with them, and the new terms apply from that date.
